“Before I started doing Pilates I had constant back pain. I couldn’t sleep at night, sitting at work or in class killed it, and nothing seemed to help. After seeing a doctor, who had previously tried to ease the pain with stretches and shots, he suggested I try Pilates. Now, after finishing my training, I am totally pain free. Nothing has helped as much as the Pilates did! I started feeling relief in a few weeks of time. However, my back is not the only place I have seen results from it. My posture is better, I have more energy, and, best of all, I look and feel great!”

I have gained confidence and strength. I am amazed at the changes in my body every time I am at Art of Strength training. The stiffness is gone; the joint pain has disappeared; I feel more agile; and my body moves better. I have lost two pant sizes and feel all over better mentally and physically. This spills over into every part of my life. My employer has noticed my confidence growing to the point I was given a promotion to a position with more responsibility.

Pilates is my healthy addiction. It has been very beneficial for me.  As a previous college athlete with two ACL reconstructions, it has helped me to keep my legs strong with a low impact exercise. I also have benefited greatly by the stretching, both physically and mentally.  I recommend Pilates to anyone at any physical or activity level.  Pilates has been a wonderful addition to my life in helping reduce stress and increase overall fitness!

Hi! I’m Kathy Carter.
After choosing to be a member of Hendrick Health Club three and a half years ago, the quality of my daily life began to steadily improve. At 41 years of age with chronic health problems, two very active six and eight-year-old sons and a nine-year history of no exercise, I pulled into the parking lot of the club. The rest of the story is still making a profound impact on my life.

When I walk into Hendrick Health Club, the Kidz Zone caretakers greet my sons with a warm welcoming smile, and they are ready to engage my boys in conversation and activities at their individual levels. I then head straight to the front desk to check in, and any particular question or need I have before I workout is kindly addressed with professional courtesy, poise and efficiency. As I am greeted by my personal trainer or go meet in one of the group exercise rooms, I think to myself, “What an Awesome place to workout!”

 

Hendrick Health Club only employs top-quality individuals to lead you through group exercise classes, or to train you personally. I find these trainers and exercise leaders to be of the highest integrity and to possess the most up-to-date fitness and health knowledge around! They genuinely care about the needs of each individual whether you are 20 or 90 years old and whether you have a question about exercise form, vitamin supplements or nutrition information. These trainers and exercise leaders are here to serve you with the best attitudes you can find!

 

Over the past few years, I have visited various upper-end health clubs in the U.S. and other countries, and I am always so pleased to come back to my very own friendly health club and get back into my two favorite group exercise classes - Body combat and Body Jam! I invite you to try out all seven of Hendrick Health Club’s group exercise classes and find your personal favorites. I also encourage you to spend time with your very own personal trainer who can get you into superior shape to enjoy your favorite activities and to enjoy life to its fullest. Who knows, you may find yourself setting new goals. As for me, I now enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, ice skating, snow skiing and water sports with my husband and sons. All three of them are still reaping the benefits of a healthier and more fit mom! So what are you waiting for?

My health was a very big risk with the way I was, and I could have been dead at an early age. Not to mention, I was always tired and out of breath just walking. I had no energy to do the things with my boys like playing ball outside, skating or any physical activity. I needed to be a good example for my sons.


With the support of my family physician, I had a stress test done and, then, started my journey with the most important key, "This is a lifestyle change!" The reason I succeed now, whereas before diets always failed, was one key factor; I was ready mentally. Anyone can go on a diet. That's easy. But you have to change your mind first if you want to succeed. Once I made up my mind, I joined Hendrick Health Club. I started exercising, attending Body Pump and RPM classes. I did not know it then, but the day I joined Hendrick Health Club my life would never be the same. When I first joined the people were super friendly and helped me learn the ropes, but I was very self-conscious so I stayed in the back area of all the classes. I was very nervous at first, and I thought it would be a room full of thin people who would take one look at me and laugh. But, boy, I was so wrong. I walked in, and it was a room full of people of every shape and size - some just like me. The instructor was wonderful and very helpful. After that day, you could just call me a gym rat. I have tried every group class I could take, and it has made such a difference in my self-esteem. With that extra motivation and encouragement from taking the classes and the people at Hendrick Health Club, I dropped more than 40 pounds and more than 45 points off my cholesterol.

Wow what a year! It's amazing to me to look at pictures and see myself 100 pounds heavier and to think it all came off in one amazing year. When I first started coming to Hendrick Health Club, I really didn't know exactly what to start with. My sister-in-law talked me into doing Body Jam and that is when we met our trainer. Her enthusiasm and perky personality made me want to meet her and ask if she would train me. She sat down with my sister-in-law and myself and talked for more than an hour discussing our options at Hendrick Health Club. She agreed to train my sister-in-law and myself with another couple. When she was in training mode the first time, I though, “What have I gotten myself into!” I wasn't quite sure I could keep up with the challenge. I guess I shouldn't have made the mistake of telling her I needed to be pushed, but she is always there for encouragement and telling me to keep praying. I have had an eating disorder from the young age of four. She sat down with me to come up with an eating schedule to help me get over the disorder. She makes working out fun and enjoyable, if you can consider working out fun. Then she encouraged me to start doing classes. All of the instructors are wonderful at what they do. It makes for an enjoyable end to the day. I know without my trainer and Hendrick Health Club, I would still be miserably over weight. I would encourage anyone who is looking to lose weight and get healthy to join. What an experience! I thank the good Lord above every day for bringing my trainer and Hendrick Health Club into my life and look forward to the new year!
